I really enjoyed this textbook.  It is definitely different from most history textbooks I've used in school or seen.  It provides the same detailed information however I love all the other details it provides.  I feel like the stories, pictures, art, and intersting facts in the sidebars are what made the book so interesting to me.  These details would create a better connection for the students. I feel like students would be more interested in the content. The books reads more like a story book rather than your usual textbook.

  1. Can you envision actually using this in place of a more traditional text? Are there other applications that you see, such as ways to create classroom materials and activities that mimic the engaging presentation in Hakim's book?

  2. I think stories are a great way to teach history, but we need to make sure they are in a larger context. Some of us who are linear may need a timeline or overall narrative where we can then place the story in context. It's definitely a challenge to reach all kinds of learners!

    1. I really agree that this book is really fun with all the different facts presented. it is very easy reading that I know most kids would like to read and learn without even realizing that.
